Jane James

Jane is one of the founding members of CTRA and worked 22 years as an employee retiring in 2007 as the Executive Director. She returned to teach lessons part-time before moving to Salt Spring Island and working as Head Riding Instructor for the Salt Spring TRA. After moving back to the Cowichan Valley, she returned to teaching a few lessons throughout the Covid pandemic.

Jane is a Life member of CanTRA and an active CanTRA Examiner and certification committee member. Over the past two years it has become apparent that there is a huge shortage of therapeutic riding instructors and mentors throughout the country. She has been instrumental in re-establishing the “Training Centre” designation for which CTRA is accredited and is currently the consulting CanTRA Coach at CTRA for 5 instructors-in-training and mentors-in-training.

Jane has also been actively involved in Equestrian Canada’s Para-Dressage committee (18 years) and sits on the CanTRA Finance committee (10 years as Treasurer). She is also an EC Dressage Steward and FEI Para-Dressage Steward and has officiated at many national and international events including World Championships and Paralympic Games.

Jane’s employment background includes the position of Deputy-Treasurer Collector for the District of North Cowichan. She has many years volunteering in the not-for-profit sector including governance and various committee work.

Loree I’Anson

Loree has been involved with CTRA in various ways over the past 35 years, as volunteer, supporter and twice as barn manager (total of 12 years).

She has volunteered at National and World Para completions as groom and team support and traveled with CTRA horses and riders to Provincial completions.

Retiring again from CTRA in 1998, Loree went into retail business starting and managing a tack store until 2004.

After several years retirement she returned to manage the CTRA barn again until 2018.

Other community volunteer work included many school committees, Chairperson of various horse shows and the Cowichan Alzheimer’s walk.
