CTRA's Recognition Policy

CTRA offers a number of recognition "advantages" for our supporters depending on the nature of the contribution (sponsorship versus donation) and the amount. Our goal is to provide consistent and transparent recognition for contributions that are representative of our donors wishes and in accordance with the guidelines of Revenue Canada.

The primary distinction between the type of recognition offered is whether CTRA considers the contribution as a donation or a sponsorship. A donation entitles the donor to a tax receipt and as such, the recognition offered is subject to the limitations on the values of advantages outlined by The Canadian Revenue Agency. A sponsorship does not require a tax receipt and as such, does not face similar restrictions.

CTRA has developed our levels of recognition within both the donation and sponsorship categories in our best effort to acknowledge and advertise the support of our contributors while ensuring that the program resources devoted to recognition efforts remain minimal.

Although the policy described here provides an outline of what is offered in each category at each monetary level, we are happy to work with individual supporters to ensure that the unique wishes of each contributor are met.

CTRA supports the donor bill of rights and all cash contributors are sent a recognition letter - which provides an opportunity to opt out of any or all of our standard recognition advantages.

Contributor names are featured on brass plaques on either the "Donor Wall" or "Sponsor Tree."

Listing on the CTRA website

We thank all of our donors and sponsors via our website. Contributors are recognized on our supporter web page for the year in which the donation is received.  Sponsors are acknowledged with a link to their website.

Event supporters, in-kind contributors, and other "helping hands" are also featured on our supporter page.

Legacy sponsors are featured (logo with link) on the home page of the CTRA site.

Acknowledgement at Events

Sponsors (general program and event-specific) will be displayed on the sponsor banner at annual and special events. Event-specific supporters may be recognized through other, event-specific opportunities.

Annual Celebration Picnic

Every June, CTRA hosts a celebratory picnic at the close of the spring session.  This fun family event is hosted at the CTRA facility on Providence Farm and features demonstrations, chili cook-off, games, and awards for the Ride-a-Thon participants. The picnic is a great way to get better acquainted with CTRA by meeting some participants, families, volunteers, staff, and fellow supporters.

Invitations to the Celebration Picnic are extended to all of our supporters.

Facility Signage

Our program sponsors are also featured on facility signage.

Signage opportunities include the sponsor banner (all sponsors), stall plaques (horse sponsors), and arena signs (diamond and community sponsor levels)

Horse Naming Option (minimum 1 year)

Legacy Supporters can choose to give a therapy horse a "show name" of their choosing. A horse's show name is their formal name that is used in competitions, registries, etc. It is different from their everyday "barn name." Legacy supporters are encouraged to take advantage of this option and have fun with it (naming contests at your organization, working the name of your business creatively into the name, etc.). The horse's show name will be posted on the horse's stall.

The recognition policy represents a framework. We are always happy to work with any contributor to ensure that your support is acknowledged in the best manner possible. Please contact us to learn more or discuss other options.

Other Support

Event Sponsorships

CTRA holds a number of different events including our annual Ride-a-Thon and Round Up. Sponsors are sought for these events.  This is a great way to promote your brand or business and give back to the community.

In-Kind-Gifts

CTRA's stables and offices are always in need of the supplies and equipment that make our program possible. In-kind donations mean that more of our program funding serves our core services.

Our used tack store and silent auction initiatives are other important ways we use turn donated items into funding for our program.

Donated horse equipment, etc. will either be used directly in the program, sold in our used tack store (proceeds go towards CTRA), or will go towards our “Free Horse Stuff Store” (for our community’s use).

Note: Every effort will be made to use your gift for the purpose, initiative, or event for which it was intended.  Occasionally it makes sense to re-purpose donated items for other uses in the best interests of the program. (e.g. a Ride-a-Thon prize may be better suited as a silent auction item).  If you wish for your gift to only be used for a particular purpose, event, or initiative please let us know, we are most happy to accommodate your wishes!
